Product Description
The Parrot Bebop Drone is a fantastic high tech leisure quadricopter, offering all the features of a professional one. Equipped with a powerful 14 megapixels fisheye camera, the Bebop Drone takes video and pictures of the world in a 180 degree field with remarkable image quality. Endowed with the fully digital technology of 3-axis image stabilisation, the Bebop Drone captures perfect 1080 pixels HD video despite the movements inherent in aerial photography. Control the angle of the camera directly from the piloting application with a simple movement of the thumb, as the shifting on the 180 degree angle is fully digital and independent from the Drone's movements. The combination of numerous sensors provides impressive stability, plus great manoeuvrability, when piloted with a Smartphone or a Tablet.
Initially I would have given this Drone 4 stars but after 9 days of use this is now reduced to 3 stars.
The initial failings was the way the battery attached to the drone. Its a pernickety small cable that you attach then the battery is secured by velcro !!
Very poor for such a high end piece of kit. Remember when it first launched it was £400 +.
Apart from that the first few flights were impressive, extremely good video quality and very stable. Flying time about 8-9 minutes. This was basically sending the drone to approx 50m in height and taking arial views. I then decided to fly it a bit horizontal. Using an iPad Air which the manual states has a range of approx 380m I set it out, after approx 100m I tried to stop it but to no avail, it just kept going. I was high up on a hill in a Glen in Scotland and the drone just kept going until my friend saw it fall out of the sky. Luckily after an hour searching we found it in one piece. Today I set it vertically and my iPad showed it was 71m in height. Again I lost connection and it stayed there until the battery got critical and it came down automatically. This definitely curtails my use of it. I generally want to use it for arial shots and not so much distance but I would now class it as a fun Toy so if you are looking one for that you can really rely on then the DJI Phantom range is the one you should look at.
